The apple tree

The apple tree is a warming up exercise that helps with association. In this the group is in a circle and one person takes place in the middle. They say ‘I am an apple tree’ and they portray a tree. A second player joins and says ‘I am …’ with something that they associate with it, for example ‘I am an apple’ and they then also portray this. A third player does the same and says for example ‘I am an apple picker’ and portrays this. The one portraying the tree says ‘I am an apple tree and I take the apple with me’, the apple picker will then be the only one remaining in the middle and says again ‘I am an apple picker’, after which the same process of associating and portraying repeats.
