My hat it had three corners

On the melody of “De uil zat in den olmen” (Dutch song) “My hat it has three corners, three corners has my hat. And had it not three corners, then it was not my hat” is sung. The song is repeated but the word “hat” is now not sung but portrayed, by taking off an imaginary hat. The song then becomes “My … it has three corners, three corners has my … etc.”

Then hat and three are left out. Three is replaced by holding up three fingers. Then hat, three and corners. Corners is portrayed by moving the right arm up and down as in the chicken dance. Lastly, ‘my’ is also removed. Thus the song is repeated five times, and every time one word is replaced by a movement. The trick is to keep in the rhythm of the song.
