Blackout

This game was made up by Dulcinea in regards to a workshop at the theatre sport weekend 2009.

The idea: through a pretend blackout the middle of the scene is played in the dark (with the lights off).

Two players play a free scene. If the who/what/where is defined and there is a defined problem, a player on the side shouts ‘O darn, there is a blackout’. At that moment the lights turn off. The two players continue the scene while the audience can’t see. (Pay attention: even though the actors do not see, the characters see everything). Thus a kind of radio play follows. This radio play allows the players to do things that you can normally not mime on stage (Dive down a 100 meter cliff, transform into spider man and climb a building, shrink, grow, etc). After the climax of the radio play, a player on the side shouts ‘Hey, the lights work again’. After which the lights turn back on and the scene is finished within a minute.
